Still a great place to eat! My sweetheart and I wanted to go somewhere for lunch yesterday, and were going down our choices. We both agreed on Mexican food, and that only means to us...Taqueria La Fogata. It seems that in Folsom, there is a Mexican restaurant on every other corner. We have tried many of them over the years, and this is the only one that we consider spending money at. On the way over we both were thinking about their Chile Rellanos. Yum. They do a good job on them. We walk in the door, and upon being greeted we noticed that Wednesdays, they have a special on-you guessed it-a Chile Rellano plate. It was wonderful. The house-made chips are good, their salsa is good, the tortillas are good, the meal was fantastic. The waitstaff is friendly and very attentive, This is a very good place to eat, in kind of a odd location. Give them a try!

We visited this location this past weekend after hiking around Folsom Lake. Sadly I think their AC was out but it wasn't too uncomfortable. They had plenty of fans running so things were ok and the fans did not disrupt our meal. It was midday and wasn't super busy with a couple folks at their seated counter and a few booths were taken. The 3 of us took a large corner booth - to be honest the seat cushions felt a bit well loved but it did not matter. The service was GREAT and our server was very attentive and friendly. I ordered a carnitas torta and it was good. The bread was grilled just to the right crispiness and the carnitas were nice and crunchy but not dried out. My chiquito ordered his usual tacos with just meat and a side of rice + beans. I judge a lot of Mexican food by rice and beans. Keep in mind everyone's family makes them different. The rice was a bit on the dry side for me. However, I liked the flavor and creaminess of the beans... and then my son swatted my spoon away. He wanted to eat his beans with the complimentary chips. When we left all that remained on his plate was about half of the rice. My torta was HUGE so I took half of it home and it reheated nicely. Note: There was a tv over the seated bar area which was playing the cartoon Puss in Boots - not sure what is usually on the tv but if you have little ones maybe they keep the cartoons or something on there? It was a positive feature for our chiquito.

Slightly upset with ourselves that we've just recently found this spot! we've been searching for a solid Mexican taqueria since we moved to Folsom (2 years ago). We love the simple but robust menu. Everything you'd want from a taqueria is here. We came back twice in 2 weeks! I love that our food comes out piping hot off the grill and fills the belly just right. We'll be regulars for sure.

TRUST THOSE WHO YELP REGULARLY... 1st - Jocelyn is a keeper. Mark my words, this young lady has a BRIGHT future ahead of her. She's bilingual, attentive to ALL customers, and didn't miss a beat. Steff seems to like working with her too... Owner - keep her as long as you can, but encourage her to fly the coop when she's ready. I found this place by random chance and popped in after another stop within the shopping center. It was around 10:30a and just one other customer... getting an order to go. Jocelyn greeted me immediately with a friendly kindness, I asked about a Machaca burrito, since it wasn't listed on the menu. At first, she didn't think they offered it, but then found it in her system ("locals only" ). After a short discussion, I was convinced to try a veggie breakfast burrito instead, with yellow beans, adding diced peppers and onion. The burrito was good size, but [in my own personal opinion... I guess that's what Yelp is, right? ] needed more egg, less potato, and 1/2 the cheese. The fresh pico, habanero & sour cream (sounds weird, bit it's good) salsas, and warm chips we delish. Though I finished my meal, I noticed Styrofoam to-go containers, which I'm begging ownership to do away with... terrible for the environment. Great atmosphere for casual or intimate dining; better that your typical Taqueria. Definitely give it a try.
